Devious Journal Entry

Mon Sep 10, 2007, 9:13 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"... we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number, really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, some afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four or five times more. perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps twenty. And yet it all seems limitless." by Paul Bowles

Enjoy while it lasts.

The quote in your journal was echoed (?) by Brandon Lee. It can be found in the bonus materials during an interview on the Crow DVD. In fact he delivers it line for line. Soon after the interview Brandon's life is cut short. I read it and had to stop and think where I had heard it before. Regardless of the source however it is something worth remembering. Nothing is trivial.

Thanks for the comment. I didn't know about Brandon Lee and how he died! what a way to go! I heard this quote in the movie "Sheltering Sky" for the first time. It made a lot of sense and I loved it.

I know and I really appreciate that. I told you once that it felt great to receive encouraging and supporting comments from friends in Iran.
Sorry about the tagging thing. At first, it might sound annoying, but it becomes interesting as you think about yourself and come up with some facts about you.

Hi Vahid,

funny enough, when I was tagged lately and had to decide, whom I should tag in return, you where in the inner circle :-)

It was very interesting, to read your journal.

I am sorry, to hear, that your cultural background does not support your art. I do like your work very much (thats why I am watching you). But I can image, what it means to you, to experience this refusal! My parents are not supporting my nude art photography. But there are others, that do and that is, what counts :-)

Luckly I didn't get those threatening e-mails and that stuff. But I lost some models-to-be, because scrappy people told them, they couldn't do modelling to "Porno-Braun", even if they only wanted to do portraits :-(

Heh, you are an electrical engineer. I am a mechanical engineer, but work in the computing center of my university :-)

Point No. 6 is the best statement -- at least from my point of view. I had a long discussion, with a catholic priest (coming from poland) at our university about my fine nude studentic arts calender. He was upset and very concerned. I told him, that I didn't do a casting, to select models. I took every model and tried to reveal its beauty. And by shooting them naked, I don't present the beauty of their clothes or make up, I present them, as god (or vishna, Jahwe, Allah, ...) created them. Simple but stunning and adorable. Every single and each of them. Wonderfull personalities. Amazing people. So that statement is the statement, which I fully acknowledge. And don't change your opinion a bit. This is the right and correct and true art.

Thank you for these insights to you.

Hi Jan,

Thank you so much for the nice comments.
It seems we have a lot in common. I used to work as a mechanical engineer as my first degree was in mechanical engineering. Then, I switched majors and I went after electrical engineering. I also have a special connection to Germany as my wife is from Heidelberg Germany.
I should also add that lately I have received many encouraging and kind words from friends (~monib, ~Mahsaaa, ~A-Khakestar ...) with the same cultural background which have made me very happy. So, it's not all that bad.
I also like your work. So, please continue the great work.
Thanks again, Jan.
